Tragedy Strikes in Siem Reap: Storm Causes Fatal Tree Collapse

Siem Reap: A powerful storm wreaked havoc in Trapeang Ses village, Kork Chak commune, Siem Reap city, when strong winds and heavy rain brought down a massive tree near the Om River gate. The collapse claimed the life of one Cambodian passenger and left three others injured. The fallen tree also crushed several statues, startling bystanders and creating a scene of chaos.

In a rapid and coordinated response, the Siem Reap provincial administration and the APSARA Authority moved swiftly to clear the fallen tree, ensuring the area was safe for traffic. This crucial operation took place at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Witnesses reported the devastating moment when the tree came crashing down, damaging a statue and a tuk-tuk, which led to injuries among the four passengers inside.

Provincial Governor Prak Sophoan, along with the APSARA Authority, personally led the rescue efforts, providing immediate aid to the injured.

Expressing profound sorrow, the provincial councils, governor, government officials, armed forces, and the APSARA Authority extended their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and offered heartfelt sympathies to those affected by this tragic event.
